CK tends to have heavy combat action on the first few turns as whole armies of conventional units and fantasy units fight to the death. After the dust settles on the first few turns, surviving units will get to move on to claim nearby cities for Victory Points, and or nearby Resources to allow the quick construction of new units. The winner of CK is determined by who has the most Victory Points, so claiming cities is always a prime consideration.

Shown here is the battle start options menu for the old CK. When Conquered Kingdoms is updated, there will be many new options for unit types, battle layouts, starting positions, Internet options, and many other new features.

This screen shot shows the original game’s battle site and player side selection screen. Conquered Kingdoms was misspelled on the original box artwork when first sold in stores. The original box said Conqured Kingdoms. Fortunately using the initials of CK is fine most of the time.
